Barren County Sheriff
Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton will not seek re-election when his current term expires at the end of 2014.
He told WBKO today the federal charges against him had nothing to do with his decision.
Eaton and two deputies are accused of using excessive force during an arrest in 2010 and later lying about it to the FBI.
Their trial is set for December 3rd.
Eaton says he had already decided not to run in 2014 before the federal charges, but he did say the meth lab that exploded in his face in 2010 has caused him serious health problems.
He suffered arsenic poisoning in April of 2010 and ammonia poisoning in his kidney, liver, and intestine last month.
Eaton says he may open a barbecue restaurant or become an usher for the Cincinnati Reds when he retires.
